A sign is an entity that indicates another entity. Signs come in various shapes and forms, and each commercial sign has the purpose of identifying or attracting business for the sign owner displaying the sign. Commercial signs are generally ordered and purchased by the owner of the business indicated on the sign. Because signage is so important a whole industry of sign writing has developed in order to satisfy demands. Armco Signage is such a company. The company came into being in South Africa with the takeover in 2008 of Nameplate Centre, the then major supplier of signage in the country.

Armco Signage main business is the manufacture and supply of traffic signs to the appropriate government departments, to municipalities and other entities.
