Road reservation signs

Road reservation signs are used to reserve a specific lane or area for certain types of vehicle.
They are a division of the Regulatory Sign group as set out by the United Nations Economic and Social Council in the Vienna Convention on Road Signs and Signals of 1968. As described by this treaty road reservation signs are rectangular blue signs with a white border, a white graphic and a large white “P” or “R”. For example, a symbol of a bus with a large “R” indicates that a specific lane is reserved for buses, and wheelchair with a large “P” would indicate that a particular parking area was reserved for handicapped drivers only. In such a case the roadway is also marked with yellow stripes. This type of sign is more common in Europe than it is in South Africa, but a range of designs, some of which can be seen under the products tab on our website, is available in this country.
Most road reservation signs in South Africa are found in or near to city centers, in large public car parks, and usually where there is a large mount of traffic.
